Evonne has served as an educator in three states, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and California. She has been a classroom teacher, a Comer School Development Program facilitator, a school administrator, a county level program coordinator for English Learners and Small School Districts, a county level Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and ended her “schooling” career as a district Assistant Superintendent.

Her experiences in schools has led her to speak and write, with passion, about what she has observed over the years. Her desire is that schools become true partners in facilitating the unique and individualized education every young person deserves.

While she served at every level with distinction, her greatest accomplishment and pride comes from being the mother of four wonderful and caring adult children and their spouses, and seven amazingly bright and beautiful grandchildren.

This website is hopefully a place where truth and reason reside. It came about from a deep desire to make our schools work better on behalf of every student. All children deserve to have conditions in which they can thrive, grow, and learn without fear of threat, intimidation, failure, or coercion. All children deserve to learn in a safe environment that nurtures their individualism and supports their interests while enabling them to become independent, creative and productive young people.

  1. Evonne,
You probably don’t remember me, but I taught in Dry Creek years ago. As the assistant superintendent you would walk through my classroom and always compliment me on my classroom and how I have students there power of choice when it came to seating. I had a flexible seating classroom where the vast majority of my colleagues had traditional seating. I took that confidence that you gave me and continued to move forward with my education and trying to do what is right for students. Now I am a sitting principal at an elementary school. I am always encouraging my teachers to take chances and give students a voice and a choice in their education… That is because of you. I want to thank you for that!

    • Jason,
I definitely remember you fondly as a great teacher, always putting your students first. I always enjoyed coming into your classroom and working with you on various teacher teams. Thank you for your kind words and congratulations on being a principal. So very proud of you. Your school, parents, students and teachers are lucky to have you at the helm. All the best!
